On Monday 6th November Alanna Homes in conjunction with our Hansfield SDZ Development Partners, Fingal County Council, welcomed An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, and Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoin Murphy to Hansfield Wood, Dublin 15. Taoiseach Varadkar and Minister Murphy were thrilled to see the rapid progress of this project, with more than 450 homes commenced and over 200 occupied by new homeowners. Cathal Ross, CEO of Alanna Homes, explained to An Taoiseach and The Minister the Rapid Off-Site System Build (ROSSB) being used in Hansfield Wood and how houses can be completed in 6-weeks. Houses are built using the Alcrete precast concrete system, walls arriving to site fully formed and are erected to form a fully sealed unit within days.
Hansfield Wood forms part of the wider Hansfield SDZ, An Taoiseach jested that he was a member of the council at the time the Hansfield SDZ was first announced in 2006 but how he is now amazed and delighted to see the fast delivery of these units in the area which is in his local constituency.
Taoiseach and Minister met with residences of Hansfield Wood, some of which are occupying specially adapted apartments for those with disabilities. Our construction team worked very closing with Fingal and housing body Tuath to guarantee the people who would ultimately be living in these units could enjoy an independence in their day to day lives which they hadn’t previously enjoyed. One resident, a wheelchair user, told An Taoiseach how he can now make himself a cup of tea without the need for assistance.
